The articulated railcar NGT8DD ( N iederflur g élénk t railcars with 8 axes type Dresden ) is a vehicle type in which the tram Dresden . Overall, possess Dresden Transport 23 railcars of this type with the numbers 2701 to 2723. They belong to the first generation of low-floor - trams in Dresden and are essentially identical to the articulated railcar NGT6DD .

Structure and equipment
A railcar is 41.02 meters long and consists of seven vehicle modules. Under the first, fifth and seventh module there is a two-axle motorized chassis with an output of 2 × 95 kW. The third module only houses a loose wheel drive. The three intermediate modules each have two electromechanically operated double outer pivoting sliding doors.
A total of 256 passengers can be carried per vehicle , divided into 112 seats and 144 standing places.
In addition to the vehicle length, the most visible difference for passengers compared to the NGT6DD is the design of the handlebars in the passenger compartment: Instead of polished stainless steel with a silver look, tubes covered with yellow plastic were installed. In the fifth module, the floor is still raised, as the additional drive motors are installed below the floor.
As the successor vehicle , the articulated railcar NGT D12DD has been supplied since 2003 - also by Bombardier in Bautzen . In contrast to the NGT8DD, however, this new generation of vehicles is based on the Flexity Classic series .
