New South Wales Institute of Sport

The New South Wales Institute of Sport ( NSW Institute of Sport or NSWIS for short ) is a public corporation that coordinates and monitors programs for the care of high-performance athletes. Located in the Sydney Olympic Park , the agency was established under the Institute of Sport Act in 1995 and began operating in 1996. Today the institute looks after almost 700 athletes, it offers 31 different programs in 24 sports.

The athletes get access to training opportunities and modern sports technologies, at the same time they are looked after to facilitate their entry into a possible professional career.

Football , basketball , bowls , canoeing , cycling , diving , horse riding , golf , gymnastics , hockey , netball , rowing , sailing , swimming , tennis , athletics , triathlon , water polo , weightlifting and winter sports are currently on offer.
