The Naabtaler Milchwerke GmbH & Co. KG, Privatmolkerei Bechtel , is a large German dairy with headquarters in Schwarzenfeld, Bavaria . The company, founded in 1908, mainly produces milk and cheese products.
The main product groups include the dairy products of the regional brands “Grünländer Naturkäse”, “A good piece of home” and Lidl's own brand “Milbona”. The products are distributed nationally and internationally to 27 countries on a daily basis.
history
In 1880 Ferdinand Trauner opened a milk retail business in Neustadt an der Waldnaab . In connection with moving to Weiden in the Upper Palatinate , he founded a dairy in 1908. With the construction of the “Milchhof Schwandorf” in 1924, another dairy was opened. In 1928 a dairy was built in Weiden with the name "Molkerei Trautner-Bechtel", which was expanded in 1937.
With the takeover of the "Waldmünchen dairy" in 1951, the "Milchhof Schwandorf" was renamed "Milchhof Schwandorf-Waldmünchen".
After Hans Bechtel built a new dairy in Schwarzenfeld in 1984 , production was relocated from Schwandorf to Schwarzenfeld and the name was changed to “Naabtaler Milchwerke” in the same year. In 1994 the “Grünland Allgäuer Käsewerke” and “Albflor Milchwerke” in Simmelsdorf-Hüttenbach were integrated into the Bechtel Group. After the construction of a new cheese dairy in Schwarzenfeld, the natural cheese "Grünländer" was introduced in 1994. Hans Bechtel died in 2000 and his son-in-law René Guhl took over management of the company.
In 2001 the "Milchunion Nürnberg" was taken over. This was integrated into the existing fresh service and renamed “Milchunion Frischdienst GmbH”.
In 2010 the brand “A good piece of home” was introduced in cooperation with the LIDL Foundation .
The "Albflor-Milchwerke" were closed in 2012. In 2015 the site in Simmelsdorf was completely cleared.
In 2016 the brand "Bio-ESL-Milch" was introduced with the Bavarian organic seal.
Since then, numerous new buildings and conversions have taken place, making the Bechtel private dairy with 600 employees the largest employer in the region.
