Naas ( Irish : Nás na Ríogh or An Nás ) is the capital of County Kildare in the Republic of Ireland . It is located 35 km southwest of Dublin near the N7 national road . Its location on an important road made it an administrative center.

Naas was also called “The Assembly Place of Kings ” ( Nás na Ríogh ).

The city has grown remarkably in recent years; the population was determined by the 2016 Census to be 21,393 and has almost doubled since 1991.

In June 2014 the Town Council of Naas was dissolved, the administration was transferred to County Kildare.

economy

Naas is a typical industrial growth center in the Dublin area. In view of the economic problems in Ireland since 2008, however, the creation of 266 new jobs through the establishment of an energy-technologically advanced Tesco store in Naas in November 2010 led to the opening of the supermarket by then Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen .
