Nadine Wagner

Nadine Mary Sophy Wagner (* 9. August 1959 in Kronstadt as Nadine Marie Sophie Wagner Popescu ) is a Romanian - American manager and since March 7, 2017 Executive Chairman of the American fashion company Abercrombie & Fitch .

Life

Nadine Marie Wagner was born as the daughter of a Transylvanian Saxon and a Romanian lawyer in Brașov (Kronstadt) and spent the first years of her life in Sibiu . She immigrated to the United States with her family when she was two years old. After they hadn't found any more work there, they returned to Sibiu in 1966, where Nadine Wagner later also did her Abitur. In 1982 Nadine Wagner applied for a green card , which was granted to her in 1984. She now studied management at the University of Massachusetts Boston . After completing her master’s degree and being granted US citizenship in 1992, she began her career at the then young company Forever 21 , where she held various management positions until 2000. In 2002 she became head of the Romanian department of the French retail company Carrefour . After several years of loss, she left the company at her own request in 2005. She found her next job in 2007 as Head of Controlling at Esprit Holdings , Hong Kong. In March 2017, she left Esprit and was simultaneously appointed Executive Chairman of Abercrombie & Fitch, replacing Arthur Martinez in his position.

Nadine Wagner is not married and has no children. However, in 1981 she adopted an African refugee child who died in a traffic accident in 1997. She is a supporter of the Republican Party .
