Mitsuru Nagata ( Japanese 永田 充 , Nagata Mitsuru ; born April 6, 1983 in Shizuoka Prefecture ) is a Japanese football player on the position of defender.

Club career

Mitsuru Nagata started playing soccer at the age of 4. He attended Shizuoka Gakuen High School, which in his first year 1999 made it to the quarterfinals of the national high school tournament.

He then moved to Kashiwa Reysol in 2002 . For Kashiwa Reysol, he played his first game in the J-League on September 18, 2002 against Urawa Red Diamonds . The game ended 1-1.

In 2006 he then moved to Albirex Niigata . Mitsuru completed his first game for Albirex on March 3, 2007 in a 1-1 draw against Ōita Trinita .

National team

Nagata took part in the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship in the United Arab Emirates with the Japanese national youth team. A year later he was nominated for the first time for the senior national team , but was not used.

On September 7, 2010, he completed his first international match for Japan in a friendly against Guatemala. He was substituted on for Takashi Inui in the 46th minute . It was not originally considered for the 2011 AFC Asian Cup . Due to Tomoaki Makino's injury shortly before the start of the tournament, he was re-nominated.
