Nana de Varennes

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nana de Varennes (born Angélina Richard ; * December 2, 1885 in Montreal , † July 1, 1981 in Buckingham / Québec ) was a Canadian actress.

Nana de Varennes made her debut as an actress in 1901 and shortly afterwards married the actor and singer Roméo de Varennes , with whom she had six children. She worked as a cashier at the Théâtre Stella in Montreal and at other theaters in the city as a prompter and costume designer. She toured with her husband and eventually led her own acting company.

After the First World War she was one of the pioneers of the cinema in Québec; since the 1950s she was known as an actress in television series such as La famille Plouffe (1953-57) and Le survenant (1954-60). In the late 1970s, she retired after a seventy-year career as an actress.
