George Bloomfield
George Bloomfield (born 1930 in Montréal , Québec , † May 13, 2011 in Toronto , Ontario ) was a Canadian film director , film producer , actor and screenwriter .
Live and act
George Bloomfield studied psychology and philosophy at McGill University in Montréal. From 1957 he made films for the National Film Board of Canada . His first American movie was Jenny (1972) with Alan Alda . Bloomfield works primarily for television series , but also in theater and film. As a director he has had over fifty productions in his career to date. He worked mostly as a director, but also as a producer, actor, screenwriter and film editor.
He received Gemini Awards in 1995, twice in 1996 and twice in 1997, each for the dramatic television series Ein Mountie in Chicago ( Due South ). He was nominated for this television award in 1987, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1998 and 1999 for directing various series.
From 1965 to 1971 Bloomfield was married to the British-Canadian journalist and writer Barbara Amiel . He later married Louisa Jane Varalta. He is the uncle of actor Maury Chaykin .
George Bloomfield died on May 13, 2011 in Toronto, Canada.
