The Nandakini is a left tributary of the Alaknanda , the left source river of the Ganges , in the Himalayas in the Indian state of Uttarakhand .

The Nandakini arises on the southern flank of the Nanda Ghunti in the southwest of the Nanda Devi group at an altitude of 4700  m . The Nandakini flows in a predominantly westerly direction through the Chamoli district . The Nandakini finally flows into the Alaknanda at Nandaprayag . The Nandakini has a length of approx. 50 km.
