Nanna Koch (* 1963 in Kaiserslautern ) is a German violinist , musicologist and composer .

education

Nanna Koch received her first piano lessons at the Palatinate Conservatory in Kaiserslautern at the age of five, and soon afterwards also violin lessons. While still at school, she began her preparatory studies at the Musikhochschule (MHS) Saarbrücken with Henri Lewkovicz (violin) and Jean Micault (piano). After graduating from high school, she initially chose both instruments as main subjects at the MHS Saarbrücken, but then decided in favor of the violin and continued her studies with Wolfgang Schneiderhan at the Vienna University of Music (diploma with distinction, 1986) and with Dorothy DeLay at the Juilliard School in New York (Advanced Certificate, 1990). As part of a scholarship from the Herbert von Karajan Foundation, she completed an internship with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra from 1987 to 1989 . During this time she played regularly as a temporary assistant under the direction of Herbert von Karajan, Claudio Abbado , Lorin Maazel , Seiji Ozawa and others. a. In addition to her work with the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra in Heilbronn , Nanna Koch completed her studies in musicology and German studies at the University of Heidelberg with a doctorate on quintets by Domenico Dragonetti ( doctor's mother: Silke Leopold).

Life

From 1991 to 1992 Nanna Koch was the third concertmaster of the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra . Here she made her debut in 1992 with the Violin Concerto by J. Brahms under the direction of Frans Rasmussen . In 1992 she took over the position of deputy concertmaster of the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra in Heilbronn. Since then she has been traveling around the world with this ensemble, also as a soloist.

As a scholarship holder of the international Rotary Foundation Evanston / Illinois, the Ida & Albert Flersheim Foundation Lucerne and the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes as well as a prizewinner of the international competitions Città di Stresa and Rodolfo Lipizer, she makes guest appearances in Europe and the USA (International Music Festival Lucerne, Schleswig- Holstein Music Festival, Primavera Musicale di Vercelli, Bar Harbor Festival / Maine, Chamber Music Hall of the Philharmonie, Berlin). Radio productions and recordings at Radio Bremen, WDR, HR, SR, SWR and BR. When performing on her own, Nanna Koch prefers literature for violin solo and for viola solo from JS Bach to the present.

In 2008 she received the sponsorship award of the Förderkreis für Neue Musik Heilbronn e. V. This resulted in a composition commission to Ib Hausmann . The musical fairy tale Der Spielmann based on Selma Lagerlöf by Ib Hausmann and Nanna Koch was premiered on September 11, 2010 in the Deutschhof (Heilbronn) . Grants from the Sparkassenstiftung Heilbronn and the Masonic Lodge Zum Brunnen des Heils have made numerous school performances possible in the Heilbronn region. In June 2015 Nanna Koch became the first chairwoman of the Förderkreis für Neue Musik Heilbronn e. V. elected.
