Narcis Răduț Coman (born November 5, 1946 in Giurgiu ) is a former Romanian football player . The goalkeeper played 214 games in the highest Romanian football league, Divizia A , and was named Romanian Footballer of the Year in 1978 .

Career

Narcis Coman's career began in his hometown Giurgiu with the clubs Olimpia and then Victoria . In 1964 he moved down the Danube to Șantierul Naval Oltenița , with whom he rose to Divizia C for the first time in the history of the club . Coman came in the summer of 1965 in the squad of the first team of UTA Arad , in which he made his debut on September 26, 1965 in Divizia A. Although he was in 13 of 26 season games between the posts, he could not prevail against his competitor Carol Weichelt and moved a year later to league rivals Dinamo Pitesti . Coman became a regular player and reached the runner-up with the club a year later . He then moved to the league rivals Dinamo Bucharest .

With Dinamo he was able to reach second place again in the 1968/69 season , but it did not succeed in gaining a permanent place. In the summer of 1970 he left the club and joined Dunărea Giurgiu in the Divizia B . Half a year later he returned to Divizia A, but from then on played for Steaua Bucharest . There he won the Romanian Cup in 1971 as a substitute . In the following years he was hardly used at Steaua either.

In 1974 Coman left Steaua and went back to Divizia B - this time to SC Bacau . Here he was able to gain a regular place in the course of the season and rose with the club to the upper house. In 1976 he moved to CS Târgovişte in Divizia B, where he was initially not used due to a one-year ban. The club rose to Divizia A without him, where Coman experienced his second spring. He made the return to the national team and in 1978 became the first goalkeeper of the Romanian footballer of the year .

After the descent of Târgovişte from Divizia A, he played another year for FCM Giurgiu in his hometown. In 1981, Coman retired from his active career, in which the main problems had been caused by his alcoholism . In 2007 he was goalkeeping coach at Dunărea Giurgiu .

National team

Coman played twelve games for the Romanian national football team . He made his debut on October 29, 1967 against Poland . On November 6, 1968, despite an injury, he agreed to play against Portugal and was substituted at half time after conceding two goals. After this international match, Coman was initially no longer considered, only two more internationals followed in 1971 against Albania .

Along with his strong performances in Divizia A , Coman made his comeback in the national team in 1978, so that he returned after seven years. On December 19, 1978 he came to his last mission against Israel .

successes

  • Romanian Cup Winner: 1971
  • Promotion to Divizia A: 1975, 1977
  • Footballer of the Year in Romania: 1978

Awards

On March 25, 2008, Coman and the other surviving members of the contingent, which had won the only title in Romania at national team level at that time, received the "Meritul sportiv" III order from President Traian Băsescu . Class. This seems strange in that it cannot be proven that Coman was even in the Romanian squad, which played the 1962 UEFA youth tournament.
