Coordinates: 30 ° 21 ' S , 149 ° 46' O Narrabri Shire is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area is 13,015.0 km² and has about 13,100 inhabitants.
Narrabri is located in the north of the state in the Northern Region about 545 km north of the metropolis of Sydney and 580 km southwest of Brisbane . The area includes 73 hamlets and villages, including Baan Baa, Cuttabri, Edgeroi, Gwabegar , Narrabri , Narrabri West, Wee Waa and parts of Boggabri , Bellata and Pilliga. The seat of the Shire Council is in the city of Narrabri in the east of the LGA, where about 5,900 inhabitants live.

The Narrabri Shire Council has twelve members who are elected by LGA residents. Narrabri is not divided into districts. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
