Nat Jaffe

Nat Jaffe (born 1918 in New York City , † August 5, 1945 in Manhattan , New York City) was an American swing jazz pianist .

Jaffe lived with his parents in Berlin from 1921 to 1932 , where he took classical piano lessons. It wasn't until his return to the USA in 1932 that he began to be interested in jazz. He accompanied Noel Francis, played with the Emery Deutsch Orchestra and as a pianist in the clubs of 52nd Street . He played with the bands of Joe Marsala , Charlie Barnet (1938/39) and Jack Teagarden (1939-1940), then with his own trio (recordings in 1944 for Black & White ). He recorded with Louis Armstrong in 1938 and was valued as a companion, u. a. by Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan (recorded 1945). Jaffe died early of complications from high blood pressure.
