Natasha Hansen (born November 15, 1989 in Auckland ) is a New Zealand cyclist who is active in the short-term disciplines on the track .
Athletic career
In 2007 Natasha Hansen won two medals at the oceanic cycling championships: silver in the team sprint together with Jocelyn Rastrick and bronze in the 500 meter time trial and was New Zealand junior sprint champion . In 2010 she became the New Zealand women's sprint champion.
Then Hansen took a break from the competition because she was no longer motivated and trained as an air traffic controller . In 2012 she qualified for the Olympic Games in London , where it 11th in the keirin was and 12th in the sprint.
In 2016, Hansen was nominated to participate in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . She finished ninth in the sprint and 13th in the Keirin. Together with Olivia Podmore , she finished ninth in the team sprint. The following year she won silver in the Keirin and bronze in the sprint at the Oceania Championships.
After the games in Rio, Natasha Hansen suffered from severe back problems for a year and a half, so that she wanted to give up cycling. At the Commonwealth Games 2018 she still got three medals: silver in the sprint and in the team sprint (with Emma Cumming ) and bronze in the keirin. At the Oceania Championships she won two medals again. At the World Cup in Cambridge she won the two-man team driving with Olivia Podmore . At the following Oceania Championships she was third in the Keirin.
Trivia
In 2013, Natasha Hansen stepped into the boxing ring to compete against netball player Keshia Grant . The fight took place as part of the Fight for Christchurch charity event .
