Olivia "Liv" Podmore (born May 24, 1997 in Christchurch , † August 9, 2021 in Cambridge ) was a New Zealand track cyclist .
Athletic career
In 2014 Olivia Podmore became a three-time New Zealand junior champion in scratch , keirin and 500 meter time trial . The following year she won her first international medals when she finished second in the team sprint and third in the 500-meter time trial with Emma Cumming at the Junior Track World Championships . Also in 2015, she won four junior titles at the Oceanic Cycling Championships. At the UCI Track World Championships in London in 2016 , she finished tenth in the team sprint together with Natasha Hansen .
In the same year Olivia Podmore was nominated for participation in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . In the sprint as well as in the keirin she finished 23rd, where she fell in the keirin competition in the first round. Together with Natasha Hansen, she finished ninth in the team sprint. In 2019 she won the two-man team race at the World Cup in Cambridge with Natasha Hansen , and she became Oceania champion in the 500-meter time trial. Although she qualified to compete in the Tokyo Olympics, she was not nominated.
Olivia Podmore died on August 9, 2021 at the age of 24. The cause of death is being investigated by a coroner.
