Nathaniel Mah (born September 8, 1995 in Calgary , Alberta ) is a former Canadian Nordic combined skier .

Career

Mah made his international debut at the Continental Cup in Soldier Hollow in December 2011 , but missed the points in both competitions based on the Gundersen method . At the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck , he finished eleventh in the Gundersen competition from the middle hill and over ten kilometers. About a month later he started at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Erzurum , Turkey , where he only reached the lower ranks in both the sprint and the individual over ten kilometers.

In the summer of 2012, Mah made his debut in the Grand Prix . First he finished twentieth in the team sprint together with Wesley Savill , before he was unable to contest the individual competition the following day due to a disqualification. In winter, Mah tried unsuccessfully in the Continental Cup. Also at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Liberec , Czech Republic , he was only able to achieve placements outside the top forty. A year later he had a similar experience at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme , Italy , where he achieved his best result at the Junior World Championships with 31st place in the sprint.

In February 2017 Mah took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti . As the only Canadian participant, the world championship was limited to the two individual competitions for him. While he did not finish the competition on the normal hill, he placed on the large hill and over ten kilometers, as expected, on the rear 52nd place. At the beginning of February 2018, Mah achieved the points in a Continental Cup competition for the first time in Planica . In the overall standings, he finally finished 104th. He also won Continental Cup points in winter 2018/19 . On January 13, 2019, he made his World Cup debut in Val di Fiemme . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld in 2019 , he was fiftieth in the competition using the Gundersen method on Bergiselschanze .

At the Grand Prix 2019 in Planica , Mah achieved 27th place after a strong jump round and thus won his first points at this level. The reigning North American champion finished 67th overall.

Mah announced the end of his career in May 2020.
