Nathaniel Neiman Craley Jr. (born November 17, 1927 in Red Lion , York County , Pennsylvania , †  June 18, 2006 in Glen Rock , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1965 and 1967 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Nathaniel Craley attended his home public schools and the York Collegiate Institute . In 1946 he graduated from the Taft School in Watertown ( Connecticut ). He graduated from Gettysburg College in 1950 . Between 1950 and 1965 he worked as a cabinet maker. He also taught economics and history at York Junior College in 1958 and 1959 . At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . He was Treasurer of the Planning Commission in York County from 1959 to 1965. He also held other offices there. From 1962 to 1964 he was also district chairman of the Democrats in York County.

In the 1964 congressional election , Craley was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 19th  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Republican George Atlee Goodling on January 3, 1965 . Since he faced Goodling again in 1966 and was defeated by this, he could only complete one term in Congress until January 3, 1967 . This was determined by the events of the Vietnam War and the civil rights movement .

After serving in the US House of Representatives, Nathaniel Craley served in various functions in the administration of the United States Pacific Territories from 1967 to 1985. After that, he retired. He died on June 18, 2006 in Glen Rock.
