National Socialist Movement is one of the largest neo-Nazi associations in the United States . She belongs to the movement of the white nationalists , which also includes groups such as the Ku Klux Klan , the Aryan Nations and the National Alliance . The group is led by Jeff Schoep and has its roots in the American Nazi Party , a neo-Nazi party that the NSDAP has taken as a model. The organization was founded in 1974 by Robert Brannen , who handed over management to his colleague Cliff Herrington in 1983 because of health problems . Jeffrey Schoep has been the organization's leader since 1994 .
On October 15 and 16, 2005, riots broke out in the city of Toledo in the US state of Ohio when they clashed with counter-demonstrators on the occasion of a demonstration by the National Socialist Movement. The local police used tear gas in particular against the undeclared counter-demonstration. The city's mayor, Jack Ford, reaffirmed the Nazis' right to represent their cause publicly, which is likely to start the riot. The press spoke of an angry mob of 600 people, which were also joined by street gangs who threw baseball-sized stones at the police, damaged cars and set a bar on fire. 114 people alone were taken into custody. Apparently the National Socialist movement consciously went to this city, which is extremely dependent on the automotive industry , which is noticeable in the high unemployment rate .
On May 12, 2011, Jeffrey Russell Hall , an association leader, was killed by his ten-year-old son Joseph with a gun shot in the head. A murder trial was opened against him at the end of October 2012. According to prosecutor Michael Soccio , Joseph committed the crime because his father wanted to separate from his stepmother. His then twelve-year-old son was sentenced to prison up to the age of 23.
