Schnorr von Carolsfeld

Schnorr von Carolsfeld is the name of a Saxon noble family , whose members shaped the mining , hammer and steel industry in the Ore Mountains in the 17th and 18th centuries . The hammer owner Veit Hans Schnorr , who comes from Schneeberg and who owned the hammer works in Auerhammer and Carlsfeld , and his descendants were accepted into the imperial nobility by Emperor Leopold I on April 4, 1687 with the title of Carolsfeld . Through the family owned Weißerdenzeche St. Andreas , which was initially the sole supplier of the kaolin for the Meissen porcelain manufacturer , the Schnorr von Carolsfeld were significantly involved in the production of the Meissen porcelain . The family also produced painters and librarians .
