National Center for Tumor Diseases
The National Center for Tumor Diseases ( NCT for short ) in Heidelberg is an oncological day clinic with a tumor outpatient department. The NCT Heidelberg is a collaborative project between the German Cancer Research Center , the Heidelberg University Hospital , the Thorax Clinic at the Heidelberg University Hospital and the German Cancer Aid Foundation .
structure
The NCT houses a day clinic and a tumor outpatient clinic , as well as genetic counseling, smoking consultation, psychosocial cancer follow-up care and clinic social services.
The central point of contact for cancer patients is the tumor outpatient department . Interdisciplinary tumor consultations take place here, in which the patients are examined by specialists. There are consultation hours for almost all tumor diseases.
Each case is presented to an interdisciplinary panel of experts, the tumor conference . Depending on the type of tumor, surgeons, radiologists and internists, for example, consult with each other and, if necessary, consult experts from other specialist clinics. The guidelines for diagnosis and therapy plans are laid down in so-called cooperative oncological groups . Doctors from various disciplines and experts from research, nursing and advisory services work together here.
