The national road then continues, signposted as Freeway 4 with two lanes per lane. Shortly after the start of the freeway, the freeway 3 is crossed in a freeway junction that runs south from Zhunan to Taichung . National road 4 has six lanes there and runs parallel to the Dajia River . Taichung Airport is south of the highway . After further kilometers, the national road 1 is crossed. This highway runs from Taipei to Kaohsiung in the south of the country. After the intersection, National Road 4 serves as the northern bypass of Fengyuan City . East of Fengyuan, National Road 4 merges into Provincial Road 3 and then continues into the interior of the island.
