The Freyenter Wald nature reserve is located in the city of Aachen on the Belgian border, south of Lichtenbusch .
description
100 to 150-year-old oaks grow in the reserve , with black alders in between in damp locations . On the Belgian side, there is a larger forest complex, the Freyenter Forest. Bracken can be found in the herb layer of the protected area, interspersed with sage goats , wreaths , hazel and buckthorn . Forest grasses grow in clear areas.
Protection purpose
The aim here is the preservation of communities of certain wild plants and animals and the preservation of the bird cherry - ash forest with the floristically interesting species in the herb layer .
