Setup date 1988

The Tibaum nature reserve comprises the westernmost section of the Lippeaue in the Hammer city area in North Rhine-Westphalia . The approximately 99.2 hectare area was placed under nature protection in 1988 under the key number HAM-006.

Area description

The NSG encompasses the westernmost section of the Lippe floodplain on the Hammer urban area with a diversely structured complex of diverse bodies of water of different origins and features, (extensively) used grassland, fallow land, extensive reed beds and z. T. old trees. The Lippe, which runs in wide meander arcs from east to west, forms the northern border of the area and marks the border with the Unna district. To the west, the A1 motorway divides a small part of the nature reserve. The Datteln-Hamm Canal extends to the south . The two parts of the Brauck and Eckernkamp nature reserve stretch along the southern side of the canal .

Most of the banks are paved, but in some sections they are also natural. The steep embankments are mostly occupied by tall herbaceous corridors, in the amphibious area a narrow strip of reeds can be found. Underwater and floating leaf vegetation are well represented. The flow character of the river is negatively influenced by the Stockum weir. Within the floodplain, grassland is the dominant form of typical cultural and historical use. Within the Heck cattle pasture, some flat blanks were also pushed out, which show pioneer vegetation. Various bodies of water are embedded in this open meadow landscape. In addition to older, smaller pasture pools, former fish ponds and artificially created bodies of water, large still waters have arisen in the central area as a result of mining subsidence processes, which are bordered by extensive reed beds. Due to ongoing subsidence in recent years, these landings have progressed steadily, with the subsidence low running on the southern edge of the area.

Protection goals and measures

Conservation and development of the near-natural eutrophic still waters with typical types of underwater and floating leaf vegetation Conservation and development of alder and ash forests and softwood alluvial forests with their typical fauna and flora in their various stages of development / age and in their typical local range of variation, including their pre-forests, shrubbery and herbaceous vegetation as well as the maintenance and optimization of an adapted use of grassland and a meadow landscape used by Heck cattle.

  • Cordoning off, fencing off areas • Restricting fishing activities • Removing waste • Leaving it to succession • Preservation of water bodies • Preservation of landscape structures • Preservation of flood dynamics • Preserve grassland use
