The Frielicker Holz nature reserve is the largest nature reserve in the independent city of Hamm in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The 150 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 2004 , extends north of the core city of Hamm . The B 63 runs to the west and the L 671 state road to the north .

The protection takes place for

  • Preservation and development of the forests with their typical fauna and flora in their different stages of development / age phases and in their typical local range of variation, including their pre-forests, bushes and perennial vegetation through natural forest management with a focus on the natural forest community including its secondary tree species as well as age and structural diversity Stocks and promotion of natural regeneration from species of the natural forest community
