Setup date 1999

The Seseke nature reserve is located in the independent city of Hamm in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The 43.3 hectare area, which consists of two sub-areas and was placed under nature protection in 1999 , extends south of the core town of Hamm along the Seseke . The state road L 663 runs through the area , not far east the B 63 and north the A 2 .

The protection takes place

  • for the preservation and development of near-natural forest stands of different site conditions with generally well-structured age levels
  • for the development of old wood stocks as a habitat for cave breeders and bats
  • for the maintenance and restoration of a near-natural, little developed flowing water with surrounding small trees as an important network system
  • for the maintenance and extensification of grassland use
