Waldenburg nature reserve

The nature reserve Waldenburg is a 135.56 hectare nature reserve (NSG) east of Biggesee in the urban area of Attendorn in the Olpe district in North Rhine-Westphalia . It was designated in 2013 by the district council with the landscape plan No. 1 Biggetalsperre - Listertalsperre . The NSG consists of two areas. Only one circular route separates the NSG in the north from the Biggesee. In the north-west of the NSG the NSG Gilberginsel borders directly . The Bremgetal nature reserve and side valleys are directly adjacent to the south . The ruin of the is in the NSGWaldenburg .

Area description

The NSG is a deciduous forest area. Beeches mainly grow in the deciduous forest area . The old wood stocks serve as breeding habitat for woodpeckers, owls and birds of prey.
