The Naunhofer See (also Grillensee ) is a former gravel pit near Naunhof in the Leipzig district, required for the construction of the motorway .
Description and location
The lake belongs to the three Naunhofer lakes with the Ammelshainer See (also Moritzsee ) and the Albrechtshainer See . It is located in the Leipziger Neuseenland , a network of bathing lakes, some of which are still in the making, and which are mainly created from open-cast mining holes. The Naunhofer See was created through gravel mining in the 1960s for the construction of the A 14 motorway .
The Naunhofer See has an area of 57 hectares with an average depth of three and a half meters. Today it is mainly used for tourism. The connection to the A 14 motorway (junction 29, Naunhof) and the good parking facilities are particularly advantageous .
Others
In 2013, a 25-year-old was killed in Lake Naunhofer after sinking while swimming and being resuscitated in vain.
