Navigator Peak is a prominent, pointed peak with an altitude of 1910 m in the West Antarctic Heritage Range , the southern part of the Ellsworth Mountains . It is located at the northern end of the White Escarpment , about 7.4 km east of Zavis Peak . A foothill called the Gould Trail extends from Navigator Peak in a north-easterly direction to the Splettstoesser Glacier .
The summit takes its name from a University of Minnesota geological expedition that explored the area in the summer of 1963/64. It was called Navigator Peak because it served as a landmark for navigators and pilots returning to the expedition camp from flights in the southern part of the Heritage Range.
