The Nazareth Church in Dresden-Seidnitz is a place of worship of the Evangelical Lutheran parish Dresden-Gruna-Seidnitz. The under monument protection standing sacral ensemble is in Altseidnitz 12 in the district Seidnitz .

Previously, the Protestant inhabitants of Seidnitz and were Dobritz after Leuben ( Assumption Church ) was the parish.

In 1938 the community acquired an approximately 250-year-old farm in the historic center of Seidnitz , the former Goschmannsche Gut. Initially the services took place in the main building, but this parish hall was too small. Since 1939 plans were made to convert the barn into a church, which was realized in 1951. In order to avoid a dominant sacral building character, the GDR authorities only approved an event hall without a church tower for community purposes.

The barn, which was damaged in the war, was converted into a church according to plans by the architect Wolfgang Rauda . It houses items of equipment (crucifix, two praying collegiate children and a portrait bust of the founder) of the Ehrlich Penitentiary Church, which was destroyed in the war and then demolished . Johann Georg Ehrlich , a Dresden councilor, to whom a plaque created by Friedrich Hecht in the church commemorates, founded a foundation in 1739 for the benefit of the poor population . The early Gothic baptismal font comes from the chapel of the Bartholomäushospital , it was previously in the palace in the Great Garden . The stained glass windows were created by the Dresden glass painter Fritz Beier . The former stables were also converted into community rooms, so that an entire community center was created.

On December 9, 1951, the 2nd Sunday in Advent, Bishop Hugo Hahn consecrated the Nazareth Church. The name refers to the Bethlehem Church in Dresden-Tolkewitz, which was built at the same time .

In 1952 parishioners erected a free-standing wooden bell tower. The church bell comes from the Glatzer Bergland and had been stored in the Hamburg bell cemetery since the Second World War , but was not melted down for weapons production.

In 1953, donations were used to purchase an organ from Orgelbau A. Schuster & Sohn in Zittau , which, with 14 stops and two manuals, is considered the company's first larger mechanical organ.

Especially in the roof construction of the barrel vaulted church interior, quality defects in the building material of the 1950s were noticeable. The extensive renovation of the church and parish hall was completed in 2003 and 2002, respectively.
