Career

Peroz spent his childhood and youth in Afghanistan . After graduating from the Kabul Ghazi School, he decided in 1977 to study in Germany, as relatives of his were already living in West Berlin at that time. He first completed the preparatory college at the Free University of Berlin and began studying computer science in 1979 at the Technical University of Berlin , which he graduated in 1986 as a graduate engineer . Afterwards, he was a lecturer for knowledge-based systems for two semesters at what was then the computer science department of the TU Berlin (today the faculty for electrical engineering and computer science).

In 1988, at the request of Christiane Floyd , then dean and liaison professor for foreign students, the TU Berlin set up a position as a research assistant for Peroz, whose tasks consist of 50% teaching and research in the field of knowledge-based systems and 50% looking after foreign students duration. The five years that Peroz occupied this position, he used for his doctorate to Dr.-Ing. and for the development and implementation of many ideas and concepts to improve the situation of foreign students. In 1993 Peroz got a permanent position as a research assistant in the field of computer science and developing countries at the faculty of electrical engineering and computer science at the TU Berlin.

In 1999 Peroz founded the Center for International and Intercultural Communication (ZiiK) at his faculty , which he has headed since 2000. In this position he has been actively involved in the reconstruction of his home country Afghanistan since 2001. Between 2003 and 2014 he set up five IT centers at the Universities of Kabul , Herat, Nangarhar, Balkh and Kandahar. In 2007 he established a computer science master's program for Afghan lecturers at the TU Berlin and founded an IT competence center in Kabul (ITCC Afghanistan). Many of the Afghan students trained as part of his activities now hold influential positions in business and administration in Afghanistan or are public figures, e. B. Roya Mahboob.

Peroz is a technical expert at the Computer Science and Society department of the Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI e.V.), from 1996 to 2010 as spokesman for the specialist group "Computer Science and the Third World" (today "Computer Science and Social Development"). From 1996 to 2006 he was a member of development planning at the TU Berlin, since 2002 specialist coordinator of the DAAD in the field of information technology and computer science for Afghanistan, since 2003 advisor to the Afghan university ministry, since 2017 “Brain City Berlin Ambassador”.
