Need You Tonight is a 1987 INXS song written by Michael Hutchence and Andrew Farriss. It appeared on the album Kick .

history

In the official INXS autobiography , Andrew Farriss said that he had the guitar riff of the song in mind as he waited for a taxi to take him to the airport. When he arrived Farris asked him to wait a few minutes, he wanted to get something from the motel . Farris taped the song and made the cab driver wait an hour. Michael Hutchence later wrote the lyrics for the song. The publication took place on September 23, 1987.

The sounds of the song are reminiscent of electronic music . Sequencers are combined with drum machines and guitar riffs. The music video for Need You Tonight , directed by Richard Lowenstein , won five MTV Video Music Awards in 1988 , including Video of The Year .
