Then she worked at the Orpheum in Philadelphia. She started her film career at the Lubin Manufacturing Company and then switched to Pathé . From 1913 she appeared in many Essanay films , mostly in leading roles. These included films directed by her husband. In 1915 and 1916 she was considered a film star. When Essanay ran into economic problems in 1917 and severely limited film production, she was fired. In the 1920s she mostly only got supporting roles. She had such short appearances in films such as Pioneers of the Wild West , Frisco-Express , Lebenskünstler , Teufelskrle , Too hot to touch , The great Edison , Darling, you've changed , The wrong-doer or Uninhibited love . From 1938 to 1947 she went again a name for her role as Nurse "Nosy" Parker in the back in the United States very popular Dr. Kildare / Dr. Gillespie film series. Apart from Lionel Barrymore , she was the only one who appeared in all 15 films in the series. At the end of the 1940s she retired from the film business.
Nell Craig was married to the director and novelist ( Pandora la Croix ) Frederick Eugene Wright until his death in 1936. She spent her final years at the Motion Picture & Television Country House and Hospital in Woodland Hills .
