Neochori ( Greek Νεοχώρι ( n. Sg. )) Is a village in the southeast of the Greek island of Corfu . Together with four other villages it forms the municipality of the same name ( Δημοτική Κοινότητα Νεοχωρίου Dimotikí Kinótita Neochoríou ) in the municipality of Lefkimmi in the municipality of Kerkyra and has a total of 1,443 inhabitants.

Structure and population development

Neochori was established as a rural community in 1924 and included the neighboring villages of Dragotina , Kritika and Paleochori in addition to the village of Neochori itself ; Spartera was incorporated in 1935 and, together with Dragotina, formed its own rural community from 1948 to 1950. In the course of the municipal reform in 1997 , Neochori was incorporated into Lefkimmi, with which it became a district in the new municipality of Kerkyra in 2011 .
