history
The Dark Ages - guitarist Jörn Schubert have long wanted Metal with classical music combine. For this purpose he was looking for suitable musicians. Nina Jiers immediately turned out to be suitable for the female vocal part. For the male part, Thorsten Schuck was found, who, unlike Nina Jiers, had no experience with metal. Mirko Gluschke, a good friend of Jörn Schubert, made himself available for the shouts. Dirk Schlächter ( Gamma Ray / Bass ) joined as a bass player. Corvin Bahn (gamma ray / keyboard , orchestration ), André Schumann (dark age / drums ) and Guiomar Espineira ( flute ) also helped record the demo , so that in mid-2011 in collaboration with producer Elke Freese ( dark age / hammer studios ) the first demo Destined Ways could be recorded.
On May 29, 2012 Jörn Schubert signed a contract with the record company earMusic, which asked him to record an entire album. Recordings for the album Destined Ways began in June 2012 and were completed in November 2012. It was published on July 18, 2014 in Germany and on August 29, 2014 internationally. The long period between the completion of the album and the release can be explained by the search for a suitable rehearsal room and new members. André Schumann and Guiomera Espineira were only intended for the studio recordings and Corvin Bahn was not available for live performances at this time. Therefore, new live musicians were sought. Mikis Trimborn was found as the second guitarist and Thorsten Harnitz as the drummer.
On August 1st, 2014 Neopera played their second gig at Wacken Open Air .

Neopera combine metal with classical music . The central element is the singing of three singers, whereby on the one hand the harmony of soprano and baritone , on the other hand the contrast of clear, classical singing to the shouting and growling of Mirko Gluschke plays a very important role. Band founder Jörn Schubert said on this subject in an interview:
“Neopera combines metal with elements of classical music. Dominant guitars, shouts and driving rhythms combine with classical singing and orchestral arrangements. Everything, of course, in harmony with the texts, which immerse the listener in various stories. - Jörn Schubert "
