Neper was the ancient Egyptian god of grain . In Egyptian mythology he is considered the son of Renenutet in his function as god of the dead .
Above all, Nepers worship was intended to ensure high-yielding harvests of wheat and barley . With his other titles Qema-Neper as the creator of the grain and Secheper-wahit as the creator of the abundance of grain , Neper also appeared in the form of Osiris .
His birthday of the 1st Schemu I fell at the beginning of the Renenutet festival . In the grave of the barn master Chaemhet ( TT57 ) there is an inscription from the time of Amenophis III. in honor of Nepers testifies: "All beautiful and pure things Renenutet, the mistress of the barn, sacrifice on 1st Schemu I, this day of the birth of Neper."
In the New Kingdom , his wife Nepit is documented for the first time on a stele of Seti I as the equation of Renenutet.
