Nepeta teydea is a species of catnip ( Nepeta ). It isendemicto the Canary Islands .
features
Nepeta teydea is a herbaceous plant or subshrub with woody roots . The species reaches heights of up to 1 meter. The plant is softly hairy. The leaves are oblong-lanceolate, blunt and roughly serrated on the edge. The inflorescences are mostly branched. The calyx and bracts are mostly tinged with purple. The crown is purple blue.
Occurrence
Nepeta teydea is on the two Canary Islands La Palma and Tenerife endemic . In Tenerife, the species grows in the Cañadas del Teide at altitudes of 1800 to 2700 meters, in Barrancos (gorges) it can also occur at lower altitudes.
