Nerija Putinaitė

Nerija Putinaitė (born May 19, 1971 in Tauragė , Lithuanian SSR ) is a Lithuanian philosopher and former politician, Lithuanian Deputy Minister of Education and Science (2008–2012).

Life

Nerija Putinaitė completed a bachelor's and master's degree in philosophy from 1989 to 1996 at the philosophy faculty of the Vilniaus universitetas (VU) and a doctorate from 1996 to 2000 at the Lietuvos filosofijos ir sociologijos institutas and received her doctorate on the subject of " Justice problem in the philosophy of Immanuel Kant ", worked as a research assistant at the institute. Putinaitė continued her education at the University of Marburg , University of Greifswald , Tübingen and Poitiers (France). In 2004 she completed the international summer courses at the Weimar- Jena Academy in Weimar . She taught as a lecturer at the Chair of Ethics at the Vilniaus pedagoninis universitetas and from 2004 to 2009 she was an advisor to the Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus . From December 17, 2008 to December 13, 2012 she was Vice Minister for Education and Science , Deputy Minister Gintaras Steponavičius (* 1967) in the Cabinet of Kubilius II . She teaches courses "Questions of Lithuanian and European Identity" and "Concept of Soviet Identity" at the Institute for International Relations and Political Science at VU.
