Course of the Nerussa (Неру́сса) in the catchment area of the Desna |
The Nerussa ( Russian: Неру́сса ) is a left tributary of the Desna in the Russian oblasts of Orjol and Bryansk .
The Nerussa rises in the Oryol Oblast on the western flank of the Central Russian Plate . It flows mainly in a westerly direction. She passes the small town of Dmitrovsk and crosses the border to Bryansk Oblast. The small towns of Lokot and Komaritschi are not far from the river. The Nerussa later receives its most important tributary, the Sew , from the left. It continues its course to the west. In the lower reaches it finally turns north and meets the Desna, which flows south-west , south of the city of Trubchevsk .
The Nerussa has a length of 161 km. It drains an area of 5630 km². It is mainly fed by the snowmelt . The mean discharge 38 km above the mouth is 13.5 m³ / s. The river freezes between late November and mid-January. At the end of March / mid-April it is ice-free again.
The Nerussa was used for rafting , at least in the past .
