Nervus splanchnicus minor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The nervus splanchnicus minor ("small intestinal nerve ", from Greek splanchnon - intestines ) is a nerve of the sympathetic nervous system . In humans, it arises from the 9th to 11th chest segment of the spinal cord . Subsequently, the minor splanchnicus nerve runs together with the major splanchnic nerve , without switching into the ganglia of the boundary cord , with the azygos or hemiazygos vein through the diaphragm between the medial crus and the intermediate crus into the abdominal cavity .

The splanchnic nerve minor moves to the prevertebral ganglia ( celiac ganglion , aorticorenal ganglion and superior mesenteric ganglion ). Only there are the nerve fibers switched to the second, postsynaptic neuron.

The minor splanchnic nerve acts together with the major splanchnic nerve on blood vessels in the abdominal cavity and on the digestive tract .
