The Neto is a river in the province of Cosenza , in the lower reaches of the province of Crotone , in Calabria , Italy . It is the second longest in Calabria after the Crati River .
The river has its source in the Sila Grande on the slopes of the Timpone Sorbella. It flows in a generally east-southeast direction to its confluence with the Ionian Sea around 14 km north of Crotone and flows through the municipality of San Giovanni in Fiore . In doing so, it takes in the Arvo river and the Ampollino coming from the right. Coming from the left, the river, and shortly before the mouth of the Vitravo , flow into the river . The course of the river is accompanied by the state road 107 from Cosenza to Crotone, as well as by the railway line from Cosenza to San Giovanni in Fiore.
The water of the river is used for irrigation and to generate electricity.
