Neu Plötz is a district of the town of Jarmen in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . Until the merger with Jarmen in 2004, Neu Plötz was part of the municipality of Plötz . Neu Plötz is about seven kilometers south of Jarmen and one kilometer south of Plötz.

history

Neu Plötz was created around 1833 by Wichard Wilhelm von Heyden (1782–1836) as a preliminary work for the Plötz estate. In 1865 the place had four campfire sites and 78 residents.

After the Second World War , the agricultural land was distributed to new farmers as part of the land reform . Since there was a lack of agricultural technology and traction, many new farmers returned the land they had taken over to the soil fund. These areas were cultivated by a local agricultural enterprise (ÖLB) until 1951 . In 1952 the nationally owned Gut Neu Plötz was established, in which seeds and animal breeding were carried out. From 1964 to 1972, VEG was a recognized herdbook breeding company for cattle and sheep breeding . The livestock was around 320 dairy cattle and 200 fattening bulls. In addition, a pig fattening facility with 3000 animals was part of the estate. As a seed breeding company, VEG had been subordinate to the " VVB Saat- und Pflanzgut Quedlinburg" since 1964 . From 1974 potato maintenance breeding was carried out. After the reunification the VEG was wound up .

Several prefabricated buildings were built for the population between 1959 and 1976 , the last with 24 residential units. In 1996 Neu Plötz had 227 inhabitants, in 1999 there were 196.

In autumn 2010, the State Office for Agriculture and the Environment granted permission to build one of the largest piglet rearing facilities in Europe in the neighboring municipality of Alt Tellin , where around 250,000 piglets are to be raised annually. The future location of the publicly controversial project of a Dutch investor is south of Neu Plötz, less than a kilometer from the town.
