New Apostolic Church

The New Apostolic Church is located at Ravensberger Strasse 15 in the Berlin district of Wilmersdorf in what is now the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district . It was inaugurated on March 17, 1962.

history

At the end of the 19th century, the members of the New Apostolic Church in Schöneberg, who lived in Schmargendorf , a district of the then still independent community of Wilmersdorf, on Heiligendammer Strasse, gathered in an apartment on Uhlandstrasse that was being converted into an evangelization station. After the number of souls had risen sharply, a new meeting room was found in Wilhelmsaue No. 26. After the congregation had grown to over 100 members, a new meeting room was moved into on January 1, 1906 in a former factory building in the rear building of the property at Berliner Straße 46. In 1921 the meeting room had to be enlarged because the congregation had grown to over 500 members. They stayed here until 1962. The church building was renovated in 1971 . A separate children's room has been created for the children. Stained glazing embellished the nave . In 1980 the church interior was renovated again. The church received a new heating system and an organ was built into the rear wall of the altar .

Since October 2006, the congregation and ten other congregations have belonged to the Berlin-Southwest district of the New Apostolic Church Berlin-Brandenburg . It is to be united with the community of Schöneberg . A merger with the community of Schmargendorf will be decided at a later date.
