New life bible
The New Life Bible is a communicative translation of the Bible . The complete edition ( Old and New Testament ) was published by Hänssler-Verlag in 2006 . It is a German-language edition of the English-language New Living Translation , which was published in 1996. The basic text of the Old Testament is based on the Biblia Hebraica , the New Testament on the Novum Testamentum Graece by Nestle-Aland and the UBS Greek New Testament . The English original was translated from the basic Hebrew and Greek text by a large number of evangelical theologians (e.g. Craig Blomberg , Douglas Moo or Richard Schultz). In addition to exegetical accuracy, the main concern of this English translation was the greatest possible comprehensibility. The NLB sees itself as a rather free translation. A team of German translators, editors and theologians translated and revised the English texts. Newer editions of the NLB are published by SCM R. Brockhaus .
Based on the texts of the NLB there are several editions with explanations: Study Bible “Encounters for Life”, The Home Group Bible, The Orientation Bible, LIVE Teens Bible and the Family Bible “God's Word in Our Midst”.
Use and style
The NL Bible is mainly used in free church groups. The language style is based on the simplest possible and predominantly fluent contemporary language. Central theological terms such as “guilt” or “grace” are retained. In the judgment of the German Bible Society, this translation is “a well-readable, largely reliable translation; but tends to simplify and emphasize ”.
The NL Bible is also available as an audio Bible . The main texts are spoken by Heiko Grauel ; there is also a small introduction to every book, spoken by Jürgen Werth . From January 2012 to March 2013, the NL Hörbibel was on the ERF Plus program on weekdays as a 30-minute broadcast instead of Through the Bible .
