Neuroofen is a district of the municipality of Stechlin in the Oberhavel district in Brandenburg . In 2013 the village had 21 inhabitants.

location

Neuroofen is located in the forest area between Menz and Altglobsow in the Stechlin-Ruppiner Land nature park .

history

In 1851 the owner of the Neuglobsow glassworks started buying up land in the area. Neuroofen was in the middle of this country. The 560 hectare property was sold piece by piece in 1896 and 1899 to the Prussian Forest Administration, which relocated the Forestry Office and various facilities there.

As a result, the arable land in the surrounding area was afforested. Nowadays, the Steinförde forest forest ranger's office is responsible for the ecological protection and renewal of the forest.

At the end of Nazi rule, the Wehrmacht High Command was stationed for a few days at the end of April 1945 in the town's manor house, which was built in 1872. After the war, the manor house briefly served as accommodation for refugees.

Until the founding of the GDR, the forest service was involved in the training of forest workers and the production of charcoal. On May 10, 1950, the Institute for Technology in Forestry Menz-Neuroofen was founded under the direction of Heinz Achilles by the Central Office for Agricultural Engineering. It should carry out practical research work for forest technology and test forest equipment and machines.

From 1992 the State Forest Service took over the operation of the forest office. The former training facilities were privatized and used for the sale and repair of technical machines for forestry.

In 2000, the main building of the former training center changed hands and is now used for holiday apartments and as a seminar center. In 2014, the Edith Maryon Foundation acquired the town's former manor house, which is now used by the Stechlin Institute as a meeting place.

Since the merger of the municipalities of Menz, Dollgow and Neuglobsow in 1998 to form the municipality of Stechlin, Neuroofen has been part of the municipality of Stechlin.
