Neuglobsow is a formerly independent municipality in the north of the Oberhavel district in Brandenburg on the east bank of the Großer Stechlinsee . It has been part of the Stechlin community since September 27, 1998 . The Große Stechlinsee and the Dagowsee belong to Neuglobsow .

Neuglobsow can be reached by bike via the Berlin – Copenhagen cycle path .

history

The place was created in 1780 in connection with a glassworks that produced green sheet glass until 1900 . The half-timbered houses of the glassmakers still shape the townscape today. A glass museum has been located there since 2002. Theodor Fontane visited Neuglobsow on his hikes through the Mark Brandenburg and processed impressions of the landscape and local sagas in his novel Der Stechlin .

On March 22, 1989, Neuglobsow gained nationwide fame because a gathering of residents rejected the SED's list of candidates for a local election for the first time in the history of the GDR, thus forcing a new list to be presented.

From 1930 to 1945 Neuglobsow had a railway connection as the terminus of the Stechlinseebahn . The former station building now serves as a residential building.

Since October 11, 2008, the district has been a state-approved resort .
