Neusorge is a district of oberlausitzischen town Rothenburg / Oberlausitz . The Spreeaufwurf district also belongs to the village of Neusorge .

geography

Neusorge is located about six kilometers northwest of Rothenburg on the road from Lodenau to Hähnichen . To the north is Spreeaufwurf, to the northeast are Steinbach and Ungunst, directly to the east is Lodenau, to the south is Bremenhain , and from the southwest to the west are the Spree , Hähnichen and Quolsdorf .

In the north-west of Neusorge is the extensive Niederspre pond area with a large number of ponds, embedded in a heathland.

history

Local history

The street village of Neusorge was first mentioned in 1564. In the following centuries the village almost always belonged to the Lodenau manor.

During the wars of liberation , Neusorge was twice a camp for troops. On August 16, 1813, 14,000 French cavalrymen and artillerymen had moved into a camp near the village, for the maintenance of which they fetched oats, potatoes and even unthreshed grain from the residents. Allied Saxon troops took up quarters in Neusorge in 1814. As a result of the lost wars, Neusorge was located in the part of Upper Lusatia that Saxony had to cede to Prussia in 1815. Through the subsequent administrative reform, Neusorge was incorporated into the Rothenburg district (Ob. Laus.) .

On October 1, 1938, the Spreeaufwurf district was separated from the Spree community and incorporated into the Neusorge community.

On March 1, 1994, Neusorge was incorporated into the community of Lodenau and with this on January 1, 1999 into the city of Rothenburg.

In 1777 there were four possessed men , five gardeners and eight cottagers living in Neusorge .

Between 1825 and 1925 the population of Neusorge fell by more than a quarter from 182 to 133. After that it rose sharply and in 1950 reached a level of 311 inhabitants. Then a decline set in again. In the 14 years up to 1964 the number fell by almost 60, in the following four decades by a further 100 inhabitants to 154 inhabitants in 2006 and 140 in 2011.

Personalities

The history painter Adolf Zimmermann was born in Neusorge in 1799 . Among other things, the altarpiece "Jesus and the Emmaus disciples" of the Protestant church in Rothenburg comes from him.
