After an uprising by Munich citizens against the Dukes Johann II , Stephan III, who lived in the city . and Friedrich these had obtained permission from the city, a vest in die instead of ze pawen and an aigen tor ... the sy out and a ride . The name Neuvesttor did not appear until 1613 in Tobias Volckmer's first city map of Munich .

As part of the conversion of the Neuveste into a residential palace and the establishment of the courtyard garden north of the residence, the gate lost its fortificatory importance. When it was demolished is not known, it is no longer shown on Merian's map of Munich from 1644.

description

The gate led from the Neuveste, which was also separated from the city by walls and a moat, directly out of the city. Although the name is noted on Tobias Volckmer's map from 1613, the gate itself is not shown, as the entire area of the residence is blanked out in white. However, the bridge over the moat is shown. Accordingly, a roundabout was built in front of the Neuvesttor like three of the main gates on the outside of the moat .
