The Neva is a river that has its source in the northern Italian region of Piedmont . The source is located on Monte Galero , 1708 meters high , in the Ligurian Alps . Most of the Neva runs in the province of Savona in the Liguria region .

The most important tributary, the Rio Pennavaire, flows into the Neva at Cisano sul Neva. In the further course it crosses the Piana di Albenga and at Leca , a district of Albenga , finally flows together with the Arroscia to form the Centa .

The Neva regularly develops into a torrent in autumn , whereas in summer only a trickle remains .
