The  New Orleans VooDoo  were an  arena football team from New Orleans ( Louisiana that) in the  Arena Football League  played (AFL). The VooDoo played their home games in the Smoothie King Center  .

history

The VooDoo were founded in 2003 and started in the AFL in 2004. They were the second arena football team in New Orleans after the New Orleans Night , which played in the AFL between 1991 and 1992.

The popularity of the franchise was immense until the AFL was temporarily closed in 2009 (between 2004 and 2008 over 15,000 per game). And that, although you only reached the playoffs once during this time.

In 2006, the VooDoo had to stop playing for one season. The Hurricane Katrina damaged the arena of VooDoo such that a season was impossible. Fifteen of the players who still had a valid contract moved to the newly formed Kansas City Brigade .

When the AFL paused for a season in 2009, the VooDoo announced, like so many other franchises that year, that they would be disbanding.

The owners of the AFL team of Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings decided after the season to move the franchise in 2010. So it came about that they bought up all naming rights as well as statistics and mascots and resurrected the New Orleans VooDoo.

In the next five years, the playoffs were reached only once. After the 2015 season, the owners announced that they would finally dissolve the team.
