New York Days is an album by the Italian jazz trumpeter and composer Enrico Rava . It was recorded in 2008 and released in 2009 by the label ECM as LP (ECM 2064, 179 7340) and as CD (ECM Records ECM 2064, 177 2715).
reception
The album was well received internationally. The Allmusic Review rated the album with 3½ stars as one of the outstanding albums of 2009 and praised the references to "classic" film music with "noir" reminiscences, such as Miles Davis' elevator to the scaffold or Gato Barbieri 's last tango in Paris .
The audio magazine in Germany, on the other hand, emphasizes the interplay between band leaders and musicians: "With what highly controlled power and magnificence the trumpeter Rava, however, Mark Turner (tenor sax), Larry Grenadier (bass), Paul Motian (drums) and Stefano Bollani (piano) leads to chamber jazzy grandeur is sensational. "
